SENIOR PROPHESY

Twenty years in the United States Army, that is long enough, but I am no good for anything else now. Would to God I had not run away when I finished high school, but I thought to live in the Phillipines would be a great life. I wonder what my class mates have been doing all these years. I wrote sister a few days ago giving her the names of the 1922 class and asking her to tell me about all of them that she could. That was the first year of the Itawamba County Agricultural High School and we had a picked class of the brightest and most energetic students of that part of the county. What! a letter for me? I'll be over right away. It certainly is a big one. I guess sister is writing all the news this time. Oh! it is something about my old class-mates.

The first thing! Miss Edith Lay is connected with the Redpath Lyceum people, she was in Fulton not long ago, can actually perform miracles as a pianist, and has a world-wide reputation. A World Wide reputation! Now why have I not heard that before? I knew she was very much interested in music, thought her ambition was to be an instructor. But Gee Whiz! You can never tell about a woman. She was the only girl in our class. I am wondering about the boys.

B.F. Chilcoat! That's old Burgess, he was a room mate of mine. I imagine he is famous. When we were in school he would tell me that he was going to be a civil engineer. What? Laid the plans for that piece of work that made it possible for ships to sail right on over the place where the Niagara Falls were. I noticed an account of that in the paper, but I did not know who did it. It seems to me that those newspaper reporters might use a few names.

Sister writes here that one of the most famous speeches that has ever been delivered at Fulton, was made a few days ago by E.L. Hood, president of the First National Bank of Tupelo. No one ever doubted Hood's success for he was the most energetic member of our class.

H.A. Burch, she says, went on to the University, finished the course and has now become president of that Institution. We all knew that Old "Daddy" would do something by his being so long about it.
