December Term 1837
It was ordered by the court
that Lewis H. Gideon be allowed twelve dollars for four day services in
the Probate Court as clerk of the same to be paid out of any money in the
county treasury not otherwise appropriated.
Ordered by the court that
James S. Bourland be allowed one days service in the Police Court as President
of the Board three dollars at the December term 1837.
John Beene for one days services
as member of the Board of County Police three dollars.
Eliba Allen for three day
service at three dollars per day in said ____.
Harvy Jamison for ____ service
at three dollars per day.
Nathaniel Terry for like
services two days at three dollars per day.
William Russel for like services
two days at three dollars per day.
Lewis H. Gideon for three
days services in Police Court as Clerk at three dollars per day.
Charles Warren for three
days attendance at said court as sheriff at two dollars per day.
The foregoing allowances
to be paid out any money in the county treasury not otherwise appropriated.
It was ordered by the court
that John Roberts be allowed six dollars for two days services in the Police
Court as member of the Board at three dollars per day out any moneys in
the county treasury not otherwise appropriated.
Ordered by the court that
next Circuit Court for this county of Itawamba be held in the ward house
of Duncan Clarke, Esq. in the Town of Fulton.
On the petition of given
citizens of Itawamba County for a jury of review on a route in the ___
of Ripley.......
It was ordered by the court
the clerk of this court issue a ____ to the sheriff of this county commanding
him to summon James W. ____, ___ W. Green, E.G. Thomas, Elisha Thomas,
Arthur Par, Thomas Hayden, John ___ Stahl, Alfred Maxcy, William D. Causby,
James Files, John Thomason, Gilbert Dulaney to be and appear at the place
and that said sheriff may ____.
........ of twelve months
now therefore if the said William H. Toomer shall well and truly keep an
orderly house and strictly observe the law in relation to retailers of
spiritous liquor and do and perform his duty in every respect as a retailer
of spirits according to the law there the above obligation to be
void otherwise to be and remain in force and ______.

William H. Toomer and
Co. made application to the court for a license to authorize his retaile
spiritous liquors in their house in the Town of Fulton for the span of
one year from the date hereof the said W.H. Toomer and Co. ____ in to court
complied with the requested ___ of law ___.
Ordered by the court
that the Clerk of this Court issue to William H. Toomer and Co., authorizing
them to retail spiritous liquors at their house in the Town of Fulton for
the space and term of one year from the date hereof.
Police Court -- January Term 1838
Ordered by the court that
Joseph H. Beene be and he is hereby appointed overseer of the road from
the ridge near John Pearce's old place to Yaknaba on the Tombigbee River
and that he be allowed all the hands to work on said road who do now resides
or hereafter may reside withing one half mile of said road.
Ordered by the court that
John Thomason be and is hereby appointed overseer of poor in and for the
____ district of Itawamba.
Ordered by the court that
the precinct heretofor existing as Ironwood Bluff be abolished and that
also the precinct at Sullasnis(?) be abolished.
John Wylie who was at an
election held in Itawamba County on the first Monday of ____ 1837 elected
to the office of judge of the Probate Court of said County having failed
to take the oath of office prescribed by the constitution within the time
prescribed by law. It is therefore considered by the court that this office
is vacant and the sheriff of said county hold an election on Monday 29th
January 1838 and ____ following for the office of Probate Judge, to fill
the vacancy occured by the resignation of Joshua Toomer.......
