SENIOR HISTORY

As I attempt to write a brief history of the Senior Class of 1922 I am somewhat handicapped from the fact that I may fail to give each member a proper consideration due the energetic efforts that he has put forth and that are responsible for what we have accomplished.

First, there are ten live wires in the Senior class, nine boys and one girl.

They are from various sections of the county, for as this is the first year of the school, they came to take the last year's work in high school.

Miss Edith Lay is the only girl in the class. She came here from Scott County A.H.S. She is a skilled musician and a persistent thinker.

Mr. Burgess Chilcoat, from Mantachie, was Captain of foot ball and basket ball teams. He won distinction as an athlete and debater.

Mr. Stanton Patton, from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, made his standing with us as an efficient cheer leader.

Mr. Audie Barnes, who was elected president of the Senior Class, is a deep thinker and an excellent debator.

Mr. Ellis Hood, who is now president of the John E. Rankin literary society, and who is a real orator, came to us from Mt. Pleasant.

Messrs. Ellis Maxcy, Clarence Burch and Deward Wallace who were former students of the Tishomingo County A.H.S., returned to their home county to finish High School.

Mr. Ellis Maxey is president of the Hi-Y. He is an outstanding leader of every organization of which he has been a member.

Mr. Clarence Burch is the comedian of the class and prominent in athletics.

Mr. Deward Wallace is the real musician of the class and also the calm calculator.

Mr. James Wheeler, a former student of Kossuth A.H.S., is a noted athlete and a real thinker.

Mr. Alfred Burch, who is editor-in-chief of The Hash Dish, says stick to it until you win.

The above named Seniors are the first to graduate from the Itawamba County A.H.S., and they have made a record that will be an honor to the ones that are to graduate later.
